For Authors
Nigerian Journal of Textiles (NJT) — published by the Textile Researchers Association of Nigeria (TRAN)
The Nigerian Journal of Textiles (NJT) is a biannual, peer-reviewed, open-access journal advancing knowledge in textile and polymer science. NJT publishes original research articles, review papers, case studies and policy analyses across textile materials and engineering, sustainable and smart textiles, processing and manufacturing, fashion and design, textile economics and policy, and related interdisciplinary fields. While rooted in Nigeria and Africa, the journal welcomes contributions worldwide, particularly studies that address local challenges with global relevance. In line with international indexing standards, including the Scopus content policy, NJT maintains clear editorial, ethical and quality requirements. Please read these guidelines before submitting.
1. Scope and Article Types
NJT considers original, readable contributions of relevance to an international audience:
- Original research articles — complete studies presenting new findings.
- Review papers — authoritative, balanced syntheses of a topic.
- Case studies — well-documented reports of significance to the field.
- Policy analyses — evidence-based examinations of industry policy and practice.
2. Ethical and Publication Policy
NJT is committed to publication ethics and research integrity, following the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices. By submitting, authors confirm that:
- The work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- All listed authors made substantial contributions and approved the final manuscript.
- All sources of data, ideas, text and images are properly cited, and permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material.
- Conflicts of interest and sources of funding are disclosed.
Cases of plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, redundant publication or authorship disputes are handled in accordance with COPE guidance and may result in rejection or retraction.
3. Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts are screened for similarity before review. Submissions must represent original work with properly attributed sources. Manuscripts showing an unacceptable level of similarity will be returned for revision or rejected, depending on severity. Authors are encouraged to check their manuscripts using recognised software (e.g. Turnitin or iThenticate) prior to submission.
4. Use of Generative AI
Where generative AI or AI-assisted tools are used in preparing a manuscript, authors must briefly disclose the tool and how it was used. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity and originality of the work.
5. Peer Review
Manuscripts are first screened editorially, then evaluated through double-blind peer review. Papers are assessed on originality, methodological soundness, clarity, relevance to the journal’s scope and contribution to the field. When reviewers disagree, an additional review is commissioned before a decision is made. When revising, authors should respond to reviewer comments point by point.
